DJI’s First Integrated Lidar and a Powerful Full-Frame Camera Payload for Aerial Surveying

DJI has finally revealed two new payloads, the Zenmuse L1 and Zenmuse P1. The two new payload options expand DJI’s reach into the commercial surveying, mapping, and 3D reality models. While DJI L1 combines a Livox Lidar sensor, an RGB survey-grade camera, and a stabilized 3-axis gimbal, P1 became DJI’s first-ever full-frame sensor with interchangeable lenses.

If you’re looking for in-depth information on the Zenmuse P1, we discuss that in an article here.

Zenmuse L1

The Zenmuse L1 changes the game entirely with its self-stabilised LiDAR sensor which offers unbelievable data accuracy to surveyors making it a valuable addition to GIS experts, surveyors and industry professionals.

This payload enhances the 3D capabilities of the drone, enabling them to recreate the world perfectly. Supported by the same 3-axis stabilised gimbal it offers higher density point clouds at the 1 cm accuracy at True Colour. The biggest feature yet is the ability to viewpoint cloud models in real-time, this brings great value to the user enabling them to use this during night time, contrast terrains and even make essential decisions on site. This payload is ideal for precision point cloud analysis, and intricate mapping details such as powerlines, vegetation indexing and contour mapping. Thanks to its onboard IMU, the L1 works together with the onboard M300 IMU and RTK for greater accuracy.

Zenmuse P1

The Zenmuse P1 is the most powerful DJI payload with a 45-megapixel camera integrated with a Full Frame sensor. It is the strongest camera payload yet with the express purpose of collecting geospatial data. It comes with three interchangeable fixed focused lenses supported by a 3-axis stabilised gimbal. Its new global shutter, capable of speeds up to 1/2000th will enable you to capture detailed images at high speeds without distortions.

The new TimeSync 2.0 system synchronises time across all the modules at the microsecond level enabling the P1 to attain accuracy levels of 3cm horizontal and 5cm vertical without the use of GCPs(Ground Control Points). The DJI M300 Zenmuse P1 has the first sensor to truly utilise the RTK system onboard, this coupled with the pinpoint accuracy of a global shutter makes it the perfect tool for large 2D Orthomaps and 3D reconstructions.
